A Email forward is very useful if you wish to create email addresses that doesn't really exist.
For instance you can create a abuse forwarder that sends the email to your main contact email address.
This allows you to make email aliases rather than real email accounts.
There is no need to create a real abuse email address as the forward will be seen as a real address.
The only downside is it can't send email.
One thing to be very careful of it not to forward email to your ISP or hotmail email address!
This is a sure fire way to cause the server to be black listed.
What happens is that Spam sent to you is then sent to your AOL or what ever ISP / Hotmail service you have.
When they get the Spam email sent to you they see it came from your website and guess who gets the blame.
Their viewpoint is the sender is at fault and because you have setup a forward you are the sender and the Spam sent to you becomes Spam you are sending to yourself. Outcome is the email server becomes black listed and your clients will not get any email you sent them if they too are using the same ISP / Hotmail service as it will bounce back being rejected as Spam
This of course effects all users on the server so we appreciate your proper use of a forward.
So use the forward wisely so as not to cause this to happen.
