We have tested three applications for backup of Outlook.
Microsoft's Backup addon:

This is not real good as it does not support automation and is only to backup Outlook PST files.
Safe PST Backup

This is a free tool to backup your PST files safely even while you are using outlook.
You can set it to run on a schedule as often as you wish.
It will create many temp files in the backup location you set as it slowly builds the backup.
The backup files are dupe PST files but the company suggests you import them if you need to restore.
It does not backup your email accounts so if you have many email accounts setup you will either have to export them from the Windows database or find another app to do that.

It does it all - scheduled backups, backup PST files, backup email accounts and more.
Cost is $39.95 but it's worth it as it is a total Outlook backup solution and seems to work well.
It will save all info in a single file in a location you set.
If you have many email accounts and use many of the features of Outlook then this is the best solution.
Why not rely on a regular PC backup?
If you use the Windows backup or a third party backup like Acronis it will not help for email accounts.
Much of the data Outlook uses is within the Registration Database.
That should not be restored without restoring your whole Hard Drive!
So again we only have a PST file backup solution with a full backup.
Another problem with using Full Backup Solutions is it would take so much time to fish out the PST files and restore them.
Tools like the above three Outlook solutions safe time and time is money.
